Hi I have a related items lookup in one of my forms that points to a lrage list that exceeds the 5000 Item limit. When i view the SP form with related item lookup in it i see this message, rather than the matching items:


This view cannot be displayed because it exceeds the list view threshold (5000 items) enforced by the administrator.


To view items, try selecting another view or creating a new view. If you do not have sufficient permissions to create views for this list, ask your administrator to modify the view so that it conforms to the list view threshold.


How can i get round this? I was considering splitting the list into multiple seperate lists, but i dont know whether SPForm designer can do a related lookup acrosss multiple lists? Many thanks Matthew

Hi,

If you use SharePoint on-premises, you can increase the threshold in the Central Administration -> Application Management -> Manage web applications -> General settings -> Resource Throttling -> List View Threshold.

With regard to Office 365, I'd recommend to split the list into multiple lists and add multiple Related Items controls to the parent form to display related items from all parts of the original list.

I'm using Office 365, so extending the limit isnt an option. I'll see if i can work out a way of sticking with smaller lists...


I did notice that Sharepoint Forms Designer fails to save forms to lists of more than 5000 items. Are you aware of this? Is this something that can be fixed?

We've fixed the issue. Please, re-install Forms Designer App and re-save the new form. All the designed forms will continue working properly.

Regards the related items - is it possible to choose/set the related item list and lookupo field based upon another field in the form?

For example if i have a list of projects and each project has a seperate document library. When i open the form to view or edit a project from the list, is it possible for the related items to be set dynamically to look in the right document library (to show the documents for that project)?
