Issue with Multiple lines of text

I have an issue with a list. It has a column for comments (Multiple lines of text with append turned on). For a while it worked great, however recently the forms doesn't save the comments data any more. I have another another multilple ones of text to the list and they will save, but as soon as I change the nature fothe column to append, they stop saving data.

Anyone else run into this issue? thoughts on how to overcome. I have never expereinced this issue before and have only recently started using spforms as well.
