Hello Clint,

Thank you for your request.

Yes, we are planning to integrate Forms Designer with surveys, but currently, I cannot say when this functionality will become available.

Has there been any new updates regarding surveys using Forms Designer?

Hi Adam,

I'd recommend to use regular lists for surveys or implement surveys with the help of Excel Services:

That looks great but the problem I'm having with regular lists is that it is very difficult to redesign the layout of the form in SharePoint Designer. Some of the questions that are multiple choice are laid out vertically and I need them horizontally. There are articles out there that describe how to do this but I haven't managed to get any of them to work successfully. We also have an on-premise SharePoint 2013 environment which doesn't give us the option to use the OneDrive features that was described in the article. I was hoping that FormsDesigner would have had something more robust in store for us. We are constantly having to contend with Survey Monkey in this area and if FormsDesigner had something better then this would definitely be something my company would pay for. So is future development for surveys just dropped completely from FormsDesigner all together?

I meant that you can use regular lists instead of surveys and customize their forms with the help of Forms Designer in accordance with your needs. Also, we offer another tool, Dashboard Designer, that allows you to visualize data from SharePoint lists, so you can display voting results in a nice looking interactive chart published on a SharePoint page.
