Good Morning,

I am after a little advice, having had an issue loading and saving a very large form, I came across the following two forum posts

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1028&p=4299&hilit=page+limit#p4299
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=673&p=2746&hilit=page+limit#p2746

These both refer to a limit of 70 editable fields, I didn't start to encounter the error until the form had around 130 fields on the form, I have decided to split the forms into set but realistically one of the forms needs to have around 100 fields, I have set this form up with the 100 fields and it seems to be working ok, opens fine and saves ok every time without fail.

For your information we are running Forms Designer Client 3.1.4 and we are on SharePoint Online with Office 365

My questions are: -
1) Is the 70 editable field limit a hard limit imposed somewhere by Microsoft or SP Forms.

2) If it isn't a hard limit and more of an advisory, will client machine performance play a factor in the occurrence of the problem?

Thanks

Dear Tony,
Yes, there is a limit to how complex a form can get, but it's not a hard-limit. The problem arises when SharePoint takes too much time to load the form, so it can be 50 fields or 150 fields, depending on their type and other elements on the form. 70 fields is the average.

This limitation is due to server request loading time, so client machine will probably not play a major role in it.
Cheers

Hi Dimitry,

I have made some significant changes to this form now, and have set up a number of other form sets for this list to break up the large form that was causing us the issue. However we still seem to encounter the Correlation Error every now and again. The form now has the following -

22 Html fields - populated by retrieving data from other lists using JS
101 fields that are set as Read Only using the SP Forms Right Hand tool bar
8 user editable fields.

There are then a number of buttons that open the other edit forms within the set to allow the user to populate/edit fields as required, each of these other edit forms contains 15-20 user editable fields maximum. These forms open in a modal dialogue with the main edit form refreshing on Callback, the issue seems to occur on the refresh.
The save of the form opened in the dialogue is definitely working as checking the list shows the changes have occurred.
We never seem to get the issue on initially opening the main edit form...

Dear Tony,
Regarding this, I can only recommend caution, especially when it comes down to the problematic forms. Some of them I am sure work without issues, while some can still have them. It largely depends on the type of fields used and overall complexity of the form. Sadly, we can't give any specific instruction on how to avoid it in this case, other than slim down the forms even further, break them apart, etc.

Our newer product, Plumsail Forms with Modern Forms for SharePoint Online shouldn't have this issue, but it works differently from the classic Forms Designer, might not be for everyone. Plus, it's only for SharePoint Online. Though it offers many advantages, for example, nearly limitless responsive custom forms.
Cheers

Can Plumsail forms replace the Forms Designer? We are online and looking for ways to improve performance!

You can replace the form designer with Plumsail Forms. But you have to re-create the forms in Plumsail Forms as there are no migration tools.
