default option on choice column

Hi Dmitry,

I have a look up column which looks up the list of Departments.
On my new form the departments list is a drop down, however it defaults with the firs department (alphabetically). I have tried to put (please select), this does work to an extent but users are able to select the please select option and save it.

is there a way to either have this field blank when the page loads or have the (Please select) option but not actually be able to save with that filled in

Hi John,
You can use Cross-site Lookup column and make the field mandatory. By default, it is empty but a user will not be able to submit the form until he populates it:
