Related Item filter by Show New Items Only

I am using related items on new form. When i add the item in related list from new form. The item is added to related list, but it does not update the lookup field value and it is not showing up in the related item on the form. Quick Edit == None and selected "Show New Items Only"

Hello Vicks1985,

Related items are linked to a parent item by item ID. But, as it is a new form and the item has no ID yet, all related items are basically orphans. Once the parent item is saved and ID is assigned, the lookup field is updated and all related items are linked to parent item.

Thanks for the help. So what is the use of option "Show new items only"? Also what are the options if I want to add related items on new form. So my use case is user will open the new form and enter values in some fields and then add related items for that request (ex Shipping Parts) for that request. I cannot use quick edit mode because on new form of related list I am doing custom calculations and it will need javascript to run on form load.

With "Show new items only" option, on a new form only records that the current user has created are displayed.
