Related Item Saving Issue

I followed the tutorial https://spform.com/documentation/relate ... -edit-mode here in order to hook up a lookup field of the child items to the current item, but I'm getting the following error when moving to the next child item.
The list item could not be inserted or updated because invalid lookup values were found for the following field(s) in the list: Participant
Where Participant is the lookup field on the child item pointing back to the Current list.
How can I debug and solve this issue? I seem to be fitting all the requirements according to this article.

This is only an issue for new items. It seems it is having issues setting the lookup to the item when it does not yet exist. That was said to be addressed with the updates mentioned in the above link, but doesn't seem to be working.

I have discovered the issue. It does not work if the Lookup is required. I made the lookup column not required and it is now working.
Maybe there's a bugfix to be done?

Hi,
Does the grid contain the lookup column? Are you using SharePoint Online or on-premises? When did you install Forms Designer? - possibly you just need to upgrade it.
