Frustrated with different forms for different users
I have been trying to implement the method found on Providing different forms for different users in SharePoint Online to offer a different form for different SharePoint groups and I am finding it very frustrating. I am using the Office 365, tenant hosting, with Microsoft and I realize there might be some changes by Microsoft that make this feature harder offer but there has to be a better way than what is outlined in this aforementioned documentation.
I want to use the SharePoint groups method but once I add the Content Editor it starts redirect ALL users to that Edit Form not just the ones in the Target Audience group. Once that starts, I have to edit the redirect.html and comment out the openForm line so it will stop sending me to the other form. In my project there will be a six different groups with their own forms and this is already proving to be hard to do with just two.
The best way to do this would be the old Forms Designer way, where I create a forms set for each SharePoint user group. What happened to that functionality? I found documentation for this at Forms Designer Groups. This is what I was used to doing with the older Forms Designer.
Isn't there a way to test the user for a group in the form's javascript and redirect them to a different form? That code could be added in each of the Default forms and I would be done.
In the old Forms Designer I remember being able to check who was the user, etc. Is that functionality still available?
Basically, is there an easier/better way that what is documented? In my opinion, what is documented isn't working.

Hello, Marion!
The old functionality is still available in SharePoint On-Premises, but due to limitations of Office365, we are unable to fully realize it in SharePoint Online. If there was an option, we would do it, but right now - this is the only available solution for SharePoint Online.
